Where do I start...
Lacks any clear strategy which results in a lot of disorganization and duplication of work.
Decision-making is unstructured and often just the opinion of the highest-paid person in the room. This results in decisions being overturned or reversed which causes chaos down the chain to those actually doing the work.
Extremely hierarchical - I got reprimanded for emailing a director to get a quick decision on something I was told was business-critical.
Incredibly bureaucratic- there is a form and sign-off process for everything.
The company structure is sold as a positive point but is actually holding them back. The decentralized model results in significant siloing of technical expertise and is driving a lot of duplication across the business (there was at least 4 brand teams working on low alcohol propositions)
Employees are not set up for success. The right structures and processes are not in place to support the ideas that the commercial teams want to deliver which results in starting from square one on everything remotely out of the norm.
Lack of development
Absolutely HUGE turnover of staff.
In some areas there is a constant fear of being fired or made redundant, sometimes this is based on past examples, other times its because management is threatening this either directly or implicitly to their team
Nepotism and Mates deals are everywhere. for example, a decision was made to work with a specific agency because they were mates of a senior manager, instead of because they were the best option to deliver what the business required.
