Pros

It has decent wages and it is an interesting work environment. Safety is a big priority, and generally most people follow the rules.

Cons

Not as good to work for as they once were. Benefits have been getting cut with the bankruptcy. Communication is terrible through the levels of management. Things pertaining to hourly employees are kept really hush and rumors are rampant.

Pros

Peabody has a sound global model that managed net positive growth during the recession in the US. The employee base has long term potential, many of which see 25+ years.

Cons

Coal and energy in general are under attack from government regulators and environmentalists. The company tends to forfeit personal amenities in favor of the bottom dollar. Smaller workspace, cutting budgets for Christmas parties, etc.
