Great company, less than great pay

Pros

Amazingly passionate and interesting co-workers. Compassionate managers. Company's mission and values are meaningful and standards are high. Fantastic benefits and networking opportunities. Discount on product will have you decked out in the best gear.

Cons

They don't offer performance-based raises, only meager cost of living adjustments. The benefits are great but they don't pay the bills. I truly don't doubt that the company cares for its workers, but those of us living in expensive cities are struggling to make ends meet. Opportunities for advancement are infrequent, often require relocation, and in my experience are not always handled professionally by HR.

Amazing Company - Dream Job

Pros

I love everything about working at Patagonia, from the company mission and our passionate, humble founders to our inspiring, genuine, kind CEO and my incredible coworkers. I believe in the great products we make, the organizations and campaigns we support, and overall the work that we do. Other great things are that we have a daycare on site and the sounds of kids laughing and playing sometimes make you forget you're at work. We have yoga and pilates classes at lunch and after work, great food, plus the beach is a short walk away. Since people are happy working here, it makes for a very fun, productive, friendly work environment. And Ventura is a diamond in the rough of SoCal. It has amazing surf, beautiful mountains with rock climbing, road and mountain biking, and hiking, and the Channel Islands are a beautiful place to explore. Also, the company is growing which makes for great career opportunities. I'm sure some people may not like that because there are certainly things that change with growth, but it's fun working somewhere that is thriving and doing good with the money the company earns.

Cons

I wish we had more vacation time, but there is some flexibility in most positions which makes up for it. Plus, after a year you can take an environmental internship and volunteer while traveling!

Pros

Excellent, fun, exciting job; a great way to start in the retail and customer service industry. Definitely would recommend.

Cons

This position is a desk job- 36-40hrs/week. That said, still plenty of time and flexibility with schedule to get outdoors.
