Pros

It looks good on your resume. The cafeteria food is pretty cheap. You can come as you are. I've seen people in what looks like pajamas at work. Go figure.

Cons

Because of the big name it's hyped up to be the greatest job in the world...In reality it's just a job like any other place. There's a clear line between management and the underlings. They don't associate with each other.

Pros

the company name, which does impress others, there are some really nice people that I work with, the fact that the company touches upon so many aspects of media and content that there is much to learn here.

Cons

Incompetence of some senior mgmt, slow pace of progress on internal systems that would help manage the business, lots of office politics, the near invisibility of the Human Resources Dept...does anyone know who their HR rep is?

Pros

Overall, CBS Interactive is a good place to work. The benefits and pay are competitive and the vacation/holidays are standard. Depending on the division and department you work for, there may be professional department opportunities by means of training and/or attending conventions. The culture is laid back and the company has some "start-up" characteristics (in relation to dress, formalities, etc.), even though it is under CBS Corporation.

Cons

The biggest downside is the lack of career advancement. Moving up the ranks either takes good timing. Simply put, management does not have a clear road map for employees' careers. They appear to like to hire outside the company when a mid-to-upper level manager position needs to be filled. In addition, policies and structure that squash innovation are starting to take hold. Fear of taking risks by management could potentially place the company in a worse situation.
