Good and Bad

Pros

Good people, unique opportunities for learning.

Cons

More employees are looking to quit than ever before. CBS Corporate is constantly eroding away the dot-com culture which once made CBSi a cool company. The new open layout makes deep focus very difficult and I believe this is having a significant impact for a lot of people, but it's impossible to measure at this point. Very high employee turnover means a lot of knowledge escapes, and when senior team members means 1+ years, it can be like the blind leading the blind.

We appreciate your feedback. We’re so grateful to hear that we have been able to provide you with learning opportunities unique to CBS Interactive. From trainings and ongoing evaluations of organizational structures, we work hard to ensure that our managers are good leaders for their teams. Although some turnover is expected for any company growing at the rate we are, we are disappointing to hear that you felt turnover and changing management affected your employment with us. We appreciate your comments and will incorporate your feedback as we continue to improve!

Pros

There is free coffee and water. There are nice people who work here as long as they are not in sales.

Cons

This place is not a great place to work, unless you are desperate for an entry level job. The sales team is the worst people I've ever encountered. They were all entry level employees who got crapped on, now they think they are hot stuff and crapping on entry level employees.

Pros

It can be dynamic, creative and highly entrepreneurial, and even exciting at times. Ultimately, it's a very meritocratic environment -- good ideas go far and creative bubbles up from the lower rungs. For kids starting out fresh from college, it's a boot camp that stays with you for the rest of your career and you will learn tremendously. Some of the creative execs are among the best in the business, and as corporate environments go, the diversity is a welcome alternative to the white Ivy grads inundating other companies.

Cons

The same spirit of entrepreneurialism has its inherent drawbacks: senior leadership is MIA, report structures are a complete mystery, internal resources are squandered on conflicting priorities, direction changes all too constantly, there's very very little communication, and executive accountability to the troops is unheard of. Senior execs institute staff purges while maintaining sick expense accounts. Helicopters to JFK are not unheard of and yet the $100 a day assistant has got to go.
