Pros

You'll work with the best in the business, gain valuable experience, learn how to manage others, and work in a hands-on, always-on-the-go environment. The Lodge is pretty rad, too. Dress code: No one cares. Wear whatever you want.

Cons

MTV is adverse to hiring staff employees; everyone is contract or full-time/freelance, which, unfortunately, comes with few benefits. They also don't really value a work-life balance. VERY fast-paced environment -- no slow days. Can be exhausting. Can also be a cliquey place to work.

Pros

Benefits are excellent, if you can score a staff position (Viacom relies heavily on perma-lancers).

Cons

The atmosphere is murky and cruel. Upper management seems to run on a fuel composed of equal parts fear and snark, and decisions are more like whims than solid road maps and can change without warning or reasoning. There are some good people, but the good people seldom progress to levels of power.
