Watch interns reinvent the wheel for free.

Pros

There is a lot of creative freedom.

Cons

They rely heavily on interns and unqualified people to get a lot of the work done and keep costs low. Executives are paid well, but they spend most of their time on Game of Thrones style politics rather than running a tight ship. With all the free labor it doesn't really matter if there is constant havoc.

Pros

I can definitely say that I work alongside most of my best friends; all people I met upon starting at CBSi. The company is full of young, smart & fun people and the culture tried to align with what you would see in more of a start up rather than a big corp (bi-weekly happy hours, company wide events and free beer on tap!). The president (and all execs for that matter) are highly approachable and just good people in a general sense. Work-life balance depends on your specific position, but it's OK for the most part. A week off during holiday times, in addition to the normal 10 days of vacation. There are a lot of people who have been with the company since it's inception, which is not only motivating but also offers great people to learn from. You can really try anything and go anywhere in terms of departments; people are very open to allowing you to switch roles/teams if there is something you are interested in.

Cons

At the end of the day, as much as CBSi is trying to be more like a start up, it's still a huge corporation that makes it difficult to get substantial increases in pay or even title promotions. If your ask is outside of their budget level (which it normally will be) then the answer is typically something like "you are welcome to go elsewhere." People aren't valued based on the amount of work they do, and corporate politics definitely still play a huge part in decision making. No one is working with an ultimate goal in mind, aside from getting to the end of the pay period and getting their paycheck. This makes it hard to get things done. People want to do as little work as possible to scrape by unnoticed, and this can be aggravating if you are a hard-worker.

Pros

Lots of amazing projects and opportunities. Top tier content company that has the power to really make an impact on a huge audience.

Cons

Too many people in higher management with terrible or non-existent management skills. Not enough staff to handle the heavy amount of work but little patience when tasks don't get done or done correctly. Upper management show little appreciation for the amount of effort that their staff puts into their work and as a result many people are burnt out and looking to get out.
