Pros

In the 70's and 80's a dynamic place and unlimited development potential. Japan trips, Training, Promotions, (my first year), Lavish Parties, great chow hall, office with a cradenza, and exec desk, and a DOOR, great benefits, pension, all in all a great company in the 70's and 80's.

Cons

ALL of that is gone now. Especially now in Newark. 250 a month to park or train it to work. Ikea workstations, all open environ, even Director level. No privacy, Orwellian atmosphere, speak out and you are "marked", Reorgs and downsizing have left the company weakened. Morale low, oler employees ushered to leave replaced by newbies from Newark all for a 102M tax break.

Pros

Good benefits and paycheck generally. The rank and file employees are nice to work with.

Cons

Very political environment, the worst I ever saw. Since there are no clear processes, everything turns on how you are appreciated by your management in case of failures. The company promotes normally people who stick around longtime (5-6 years), and not necessarily on the merit of the person. This is why there are a lot of mid-level managers and even directors incompetent. If you do not mind waiting, it might be a good workplace for you. However, if you see that your management is or becomes aloof to you, you have no future there and you are better off somewhere else. Since this is a Japanese company, based on corporate culture you are either in the grace of your manager, or not. The Asian managers tend to treat their team like a family and may take it personally if they find out you want to move somewhere else, even for a better job.

Pros

The coffee mess is excellent. They have plenty of work. Nice holiday parties.

Cons

Processes and procedures are poorly documented. If you are disliked by management, they will ensure that you are unable to complete your work. Be prepared for mandatory Saturday overtime.
