The pay and benefits are excellent, the vast majority of people here are great to work with, the business is making huge amounts of money and is growing well, the Hammersmith office is a nice place to work.

Cons

There is a deeply engrained culture of never planning ahead and leaving everything to the last minute, everything is always rushed and this causes high stress and a low quality of work across the business. Management do not act on advice given (repeatedly) to them and there is no accountability. The staff attrition rate in Betfair is breathtaking, the vast majority of those I have worked with haven't lasted longer than 18 months. HR used to review this once a year, they have now had to step this up to four times a year because of the sheer amount of people leaving, this should speak volumes to anyone considering becoming an employee.

Stressful due to volume of business. otherwise i have no cons. they offer good service and the employee collection is very family like

I worked in Malta on the Arcade, Exchange Games and the online casino, with the odd trip to Hammersmith. If you get the opportunity to work in Malta, grasp it, because for me it is an even better office life than Hammersmith. The culture of Betfair is very relaxed but also hardworking and committed. If you like sport, punting and a bit of 'banter' - Betfair is the place. The core exchange remains an unbeatable product and it is difficult to see how another company can challenge Betfair's domination of exchange betting.

Cons

The worst idea that come to the fore in my time was that the company was 'technology led', largely because of its huge internal 'engineering' team. This seemed a ruse to grant techies more power in making commercial decisions. Of course any biz should be customer led.
