Pros

Good experience of the industry. Granta Park is pleasant. Home working when requested. Good canteen, although many people just work thorough lunch.

Cons

No work life balance. Don’t expect to be doing anything else of an evening. A lot of unpaid overtime, do not expect any time off in lieu and probably not any thanks. No slack in the system so staff are expected to do overtime due to other staff having left, are ill or on holiday. You will earn your holiday with a lot of overtime pre and post your time off. Training in some departments is poor. Too many different systems that do not work together. Some rationalisation required. Difficult to get to know people even in the same building. Lots of people are bad tempered with each other. Usually because they have too much to do and are always stressed. Below inflation pay rise – most people got a 1.3% pay rise last year. High turnover. Most people leave because competitors are offering higher pay or due to excessive workload.

Pros

1. Bonuses – it’s taxed 25% though 2. Overtime opportunities – could push you into the next tax bracket with the bountiful opportunities though 3.Experience – for newbies in the working field by learning about work politics and the daily grind of working

Cons

1. No work/life balance – a lot of overtime (40+ hours and 6 days a week) for a long time will burn you out 2. No consistent schedule – schedule is given out every Friday for the next work week and you could work morning, nights or weekends 3. Inept Team Leaders – they are usually promoted based on their performance from their previous position (which is not management based) 4. Benefits –good on paper, but PTO would either get denied or not accepted in a timely manner (the week before); other benefits are the same if you go to another company 5. Compensation – pay is not equivalent to the amount of work 6. Unprofessional – young employees 7. Slow Growth

Pros

Line Manager and Oversight Directors seemed genuine; decent pay relatively

Cons

No time to finish training or onboarding before assigning rescue project. No support available - everyone overworked to point of exhaustion. PMs fleeing as soon as they could due to long hours, no work-life balance. Literally crying to your manager got you no where. Company extremely economically driven - results in Bus. Development running the show; under-resourcing and making promises that the cannot be met and are dumped on the PM/Team to manage. This results in poor performance and client satisfaction >>> no bonus for the PM who is inevitably responsible.
