Pros

Work in high stress ineffective environment creates an opportunity for developing emotional intelligence, leadership skills, and self-reliance. Love when I can focus on my actual work with some amazing colleagues!!!

Cons

Politics! Toxic harassing work environment. Promotions based on favoritism, self-service, and money allowance; not merit. Difficult and time consuming to advance career. Managers don't respect all people or understand that leadership is serving others to meet company goals. Company chose to cap PTO roll-over, decrease PTO sell-back, and increase health insurance cost which disproportionately affects lower paid employees rather than cap exorbitant benefits paid to top PPD executives.

Awful

Pros

You can potentially gain decent experience.

Cons

It will cost you, the pay is absolute bottom for the field and the growth potential is minimal at best. Almost entirely female employment to the point of discrimination, extremely catty attitudes and behaviors. Even after giving full notice to leave and following the rules manager was a complete witch to me with full on mini tantrum. If you try to apply and return later they treat you like a stranger with no experience. Just stay away if you have better options.

Remote Site Monitor

Pros

Ability to work remotely. Line manager is awesome.

Cons

PPD is very unorganized overall. They train a ton, but not for your specific studies. The amount of work truly depends what study you are on. The remote site monitor job is a thankless job. This job is the dump for everything on the study. Since you are the main site contact you have to field all issues with the study. There is a company culture of everyone saying that is not my job. Then it all filters down to the RSM and not being able to solve issues because there are no answers and things are always someone else’s job. Escalations are not solved in a timely manner. The amount of work this job is required to do is unreasonable. The pay is low compared to industry standards and also based on the amount of work given. There is also no room for advancement in a short period of time. This role has limited number of promotions. Therefore, even if you are amazing at your job you will not be promoted for several years because someone else might be waiting for 3 years to get promoted. We have company slogans and I think that the company does not practice what they preach.
