Pros

The company is very regimented. There is a process for doing everything, so there is consistency. However finding that information is not always easy given the size of the company. There are plenty of resources available to you in the employee intranet but the training on navigating throught intranet, finding those resources and subsequently putting them to use is not always there. The compensation package is fair but if you're in a traveling position, it's hard to make time to actually take time off.

Cons

The pay is not anywhere near industry standard but they can afford to pay their employees what they want as there are plenty of people just waiting to get into the company. I've heard sites refer to this company as the "Wal-mart" of CROs. They bend over backwards to please their client at the expense of their employees. If you're in a traveling position, the idea of a 40 hour work week is a joke. Employees are overloaded with work and are never able to get fully caught up. PPD says they are a premium CRO, but they underbid their contracts and overwork their employees to gross the maximum profit.

Pros

Gain experience, work with a lot of diverse clients. Good physicians on staff if they have the time to work on the team, you might learn some things. Excellent contracts and proposals process, laborious but you will learn a lot if you get a chance to participate.

Cons

Resources not managed, driven by the fire of the day. Some groups work thousands of hours over time and others work less then 20. No one is watching the store. Management always reactive to overspends early on in projects.
