Pros

Decent infrastructure Good policies good brand name Very little politics (would vary from team to team, but not very high overall) Good work life balance

Cons

Level of technology in applications division had gone down and the developers lack the overall vision, being made to work on a very small aspect of a product Very difficult to grow technically in this atmosphere Company is more keen on buying customers via acquisitions, rather than making good products Salary below par the industry

Pros

Good work culture Not much pressure, They are not cheap.. decent people.

Cons

Top level management is direction less. They don't really bother about the employees. Now after Oracle takeover situation is much confused. Recently they announced some "correction" of salaries, but were cunning enough to raise the variable segment only that is very less and no one knows when they will give it. The appraisal system here is really illogical and indicates that sycophancy pays. After self appraisal some ratings are give by supervisors, again at the time when hike will be given you will come to know about your ratings (L1 to L5). But no one knows the connection between the two. Also in PrimeSourcing division they think after a certain level of experience you are required to move in management. It means this is not the right place for someone who is looking for innovative technical work. Senior guys keep on adding years to their experience though technically they may not be of any use. So many managers are there, one will wonder what do they really manage.. i think they manage how to remain there without doing any worthy task. But this story is more or less same with India's software service industry, this is not alone.

Pros

Good money Excellent Benefits Tons of self-study courses available. Tons of classroom training available if you can find the time. Large and growing pipeline of software sales. Targeted acquisition of hardware and software sales indicate continued success. Oracle's success is your success. Oracle's failures seldom translate into employee failures.

Cons

The downside for working at Oracle would probably be the downside for working at any software and/or consulting company. Sales are cyclical. When times are good, everybody thrives financially. When times are tough, and they were through 2008/2009, people can lose their jobs. All things being equal in the market place, the pros for working at Oracle beat the cons.
