Pros

- on the ground work that makes an impact - decent pay and benefits

Cons

- the organizational structure of OSCE disincentivizes work due to lack of promotion opportunities; and because of consensus-based nature of budget approval, there is little hope that greater resources for programmatic work or employees can ever be approved - within the OSCE Mission in Kosovo itself, the workflow methods are completely dysfunctional and outdated. There is low morale here.

Organization in Crisis

Pros

Work abroad; interesting work; decent/good salary (depending on level) plus board and living allowance of $45,000 for US employees; work in an international office

Cons

Organization is in crisis after Russia's invasion of Ukraine; the US pays its citizens seconded to work with OSCE, but not all countries do. For many countries staff only works for the board and living allowance
