Pros

Nutrien has provided me with steady and stable employment for the last 12 years, with the occasional slump in the beginning due to market demands. The benefits and wages provided are industry competitive and fair. The benefits to working here are: set schedules, occasional and optional overtime, family activities outside of work, room for advancement, good job training, fair and inclusive atmosphere, and last but not least great people to work with. This company's main focus, besides producing and distributing agricultural products throughout the world, is to work safely and for everyone to go home safe each and every day. This attitude is shown right from the CEO, down to the site management and workers.

Cons

This job and site is not for everybody. The working conditions can be challenging at times, varying with the areas on site and seasonal temperatures. You can be working in hot and dusty environments shoveling, then go to standing in brine with slurry spraying on top of you while trying to patch a leak or get a piece of equipment running again. This job is both physically and mentally demanding , and you have to be ready for anything.

Pros

Lots of Autonomy, Able to influence Process and Procedures, Safety driven in all aspects - personal and professional, Global scope of work, Everyone is very approachable from boots on ground workers all the way up to EVP's.

Cons

Woefully understaffed across all functions; Two years post merger Nutrien is still three separate organizations: Retail, Nitrogen/Phosphate and Potash, It looks like nothing is being done to integrate the three BU's; CEO and EVP's talk culture, below them nothing is being done to drive a new culture; Continually talk about being "World Class" but nothing is being done about a) showing where we are or b) having a plan to get there. Hence the comment - we are big company. But we are not a sophisticated company.
