Learned a lot, about science, life, and how to grow a thick skin

Cons

Management doesn't care about you if you don't have your PhD. Extremely academic atmosphere and toxic to the core. Wasn't allowed to speak to anyone outside immediate department, physical and mental barriers existed because of untrusting atmosphere. Soul sucking in every way. Any positive reviews are definitely not real.

-the people I work directly with are great

Cons

-no one takes responsibility/ many play the blame game and will track mistakes made by other groups -lots of push back from other departments that make my bosses not want to deal with it, so many things fall onto my group -research scientist II position feels more like a tech position - do not feel like I was hired into the correct position -3% raises when inflation has been ~7% for the past few years, they try to justify it as "this is what you would get if you went to another company because there is a committee that discusses salaries" -commute is way too long and commuter benefits don't completely cover the time and money you are spending
