Mediocre performance is encouraged by all in the name of an inclusive and the ‘Novartis’ culture. The reality is that no one really wants to work here. I have seen politics usually in the senior levels in other companies and not really even at the entry level roles. Everyone is focused on saving their jobs through politics and not merit. The mob mentality and attacking anyone who needs to get work done. There is no structure, no clear defined roles and responsibilities and the culture breeds mediocrity. A very nauseating experience for top performers or people who wish to learn and thrive in a high performing culture.

This particular site is terrible with mismanagement and incompetence across the board. The managers speak but do not listen. They listen to provide counter arguments to your concerns rather than listen to understand. Micromanagement reigns free at this site. There is quite a bit of pointing the finger of blame on colleagues or as a tactic for advancement. Most people here are very junior and really have no experience in a pharma environment and may think that this is how management is supposed to work. The integration into Novartis and its processes have contributed to some of the problems, but mismanagement and the culture it fosters has amplified and galvanized them. Turn-over is very high at this site even though it is being described as in alignment with normal churn. Unfortunately, the turn-over is with experienced, seasoned professionals. Run, don’t walk from this place.
