Unfortunately, despite Nokia's incredible advantages, it has made a series of disastrous choices, in large part due to their very "human" culture. Nokia has a very non-confrontational and consensus oriented culture that is slow to assign responsibility or blame. Top management decisions from the late 2000's led to the drastic action over the last couple of years: dumping Symbian, Meego and many thousands of employees. While I don't agree with the current direction, at least Elop did something! Previous leadership simply rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic.
