      NI's R&D is a good and reliable place to develop knowledge, skills and experience, but it develops people very slowly.

      - R&D gives a lot of responsibility to engineers of all positions, which I find very fulfilling - Strong culture aided by no fear of lay-offs and minimal politicking - Most managers are effective and not just buzzword generators - Great opportunities to get involved in the community, especially with education

      Cons

      - Improving, but still sub-standard infrastructure - Slow advancement - Low Starting Pay - Extremely low raises - Bonuses are calculated on an expectation of 40% organic growth

      They have a good work culture and they allow you to assume a flexible role within the organisation. The people there are friendly and helpful.

      Cons

      Some grouses about salaries go unheeded by the management, larger than normal workload, no really obvious incentive for doing things quickly or ahead of schedule.
