Pros

Great place to start a career, but you have to move on. I can't imagine staying with the company long term. The company seems to attract some of the best and brightest. It's great to have such intelligent, creative and committed coworkers.

Cons

Salaries tend to be on the low side compared to other companies. It's tough to retain the best and brightest employees when you aren't paying them as much as their peers who work elsewhere.

Pros

NI is a great place to start a career and gain industry knowledge. It's not a place for hand-holding, so you'll do better if you like to "hit the ground running and learn by doing". Employees are usually good about knowledge sharing. Senior management is capable. Benefits are good enough.

Cons

Salaries are lower than comparable companies, and it's hard to work your way up. Each area has a different standard for performance reviews, promotions, and merit raises. If you work on a high-profile project, then you're a rock star. Otherwise, you're overlooked. Lots of politics in upper and middle management.

Pros

Work/life balance makes it easy to get things done outside of work - in fact many employees have businesses on the side. The company benefits are also great, but this results in a smaller salary compared to other companies in industry.

Cons

Communication within the company and company politics make it hard to do the right thing. Senior Management is great - it's middle management that has no idea what it's doing. Employees are promoted through seniority, rather than job performance. Again, salary is below standard for industry, but in some instances it is okay since the company tends to higher those that are younger and have less experience, while training them to do the job they were hired for.
