Pros

Work/life balance is encouraged. Coworkers are generally pretty great/smart. Work is interesting and fun.

Cons

Time off policies are to low Poor management - don't really understand how to grow employees and provide opportunities. Too much politics. Salaries/total compensation is low and losing ground to other technology companies

Pros

There are opportunities to work on great projects if you can move around enough in the company.

Cons

Creativity is not always valued; personal side projects don't get much support. The salary and benefits are below grade for companies in this sector. Management is pretty social so if you don't have an outgoing personality it will be harder to get promotions.

Pros

Work life balanced, usually don't need to work overtime. It's nice to start engineer career in NI with nice salary in China

Cons

Salary in NI Austin is quite below average, so the high cost for Shanghai engineer makes it less competitive, Austin doesn't take care of Shanghai branch so much, rubbish projects come to Shanghai. Practically NI is a traditional IT company, who provides test equipment and engineers working in test industry are hard to find another competitive employer especially after years of test working experience. Poor salary raise each year makes capable senior engineer leave. Poor management like state-owned company.
