Pros

Great group of people to work with. Some of the sponsors are great and easy to work with. The member base, for the most part as well as the national convention are very impressive. The new CEO is trying to turn the finances around.

Cons

Incompetent management at every level, inconsistent treatment of employees, core values not observed or respected by management, work life balance not respected. The culture is such that there is a divide and complete lack of effective communication between upper levels and lower levels. There is a lot of ego and sensitivity at the top do going against the grain or speaking out only results in retaliation. Very little appreciation for or loyalty to employees. The HR department is comprised of bullies, you'll need to double check your pay and benefits constantly as there is no competent benefits person and you CANNOT approach with confidence of non bias or impartial mediation if needed. A large portion of the work force was cut while two high decision makers there through the deficit causing period remain. The only consistency is that retaliation is eminent if you speak up or in defense of an opposing view from management. You'll be fed lie after lie and experience disappointment after disappointment.

Pros

Work life balance - great culture if you're an educator. Good intentions by management and always have members in mind.

Cons

Good old boy network, lots of cronyism, org being led by executives with no experience in driving a business, let alone an organization.

Pros

Interesting work, great people to work with, amazing students and the organization does great things for its membership and advisors

Cons

20% lower salaries than the market, very long hours at times (18-20 hour days for 10+ days in a row), work/life balance is discussed, but not followed.
