      Great place to work 5 years ago, but in recent years, very little opportunity for growth or career development.

      Pros

      Nvidia still has quite a young work force. The culture is interesting and there are some opportunities for innovating.

      Cons

      Most management is has had no training in managing people. Senior management, specially in the software department puts a lid on risk taking and trying new things. In general there aren't many opportunities for career development in software as the company's main focus is hardware. The software team is still quite big, but many of the positions are so specific that it makes it difficult to move around internally to try different things. In fact, it is often discouraged. Employee's job satisfaction is always the last thing on the companies list.

      Pros

      The products and pace of development for transformational technologies was exciting. The industry knowledge and expertise of employees was very high compared to competition.

      Cons

      The trend of hiring from outside limited career opportunities and created very few promotions. The company did not spend much time or resources in training sales and marketing employees on technology before it was launched. The practice of dressing down employees by senior management in front of groups to show their frustration or disapproval to strategies was well known.

      No rewards for good performance

      Pros

      Good Technical experience. Get to work on lot of tapeouts. Reward for good work is more challenging work.

      Cons

      Compensation not that great. Have to work 24x7. Apathy by middle management towards employees. Explotation is rampant.
