      Unrealistic expectations

      Pros

      25% staff discount, first dibs on sale items.

      Cons

      Unrealistic demands from head office and then changing their minds. Constantly reducing staff numbers putting more pressure on current staff and managers. Area managers not realistic to what can be achieved and do not want to listen to feedback. Expected to put in lots of extra hours, work from home etc all unpaid. As a Saturday job its good, as a manager its awful!

      Pros

      I love fashion, and enjoyed being the front face of next. It gave me an opportunity to work close with the public, and give customers advice on occasional wear.

      Cons

      Being on a contract I didn't work many hours, unless other employees gave their shifts up.

      Dreadful behaviour from senior management and HR

      Culture is suffocating never felt valued. Unless you are part of the senior management team you are simply just a number and treated like a robot...Do what we say we don't care what you think! Huge churn of staff and HR have an extremely bad policy when returning after maternity leave with restricted flexible working hours...they have their own in house legal team and threaten staff with tribunals almost on a daily basis...I know of at least four cases of people having to leave when they've been faced with sick relatives and requesting to reduce hours and being refused the requests with no option but to leave their jobs. Bullying is rife and is full of backstabbers and smiling assassins...Terrible company...it's a shame that Lord Wolfson doesn't see what's going on under his nose!!
