Pros

- literally nothing besides the fact there's a costa so I can get good food to distract me from my "dog shift"

Cons

-awful break times - in a busy and fast paced retail company like next, one can easily become extremely tired within a short of six hours and more. The company limits you to only a half an hour break even when you are working for 8 hours. This is quite shocking considering most retail companies have now altered break times to at least 45 minutes. - rude management that have no experience in tills or even dealing with customers but will talk to you like you're dirt -next try to trick you into more hours. In the interview you'll give your availability which will then determine your normal shift hours. But after they will throw random shifts at you which is accepted automatically by next's staff website, so half the time you won't even be aware.

Poor salary, no clear progression from management. Can’t get anything done due to too many corporate hurdles...

Our people in the business make our Next culture what it is and we found our people have a strong and respectful community. Regarding progression, as a business we want to ensure that we are continually investing and developing teams. This is why we set our a career plan to support development. This is discussed during 1-to-1 meetings with your Line Manager and we'd recommend also booking in time monthly to review this. We've also introduced Clear Review. An online system performance manager, where you can track and make notes of your goals - business and personal, which has helped to support development for our teams in the business. Regarding frameworks and IT software, if you have issues installing software, with the permission of your Line Manager this will all be set up and requested through our Online Service portal. We'd recommend asking your Manger or teams for help regarding installing or requesting access for this.

Pros

Used to have a good bonus system but that was taken away due to covid

Cons

No flexibility, low pay, usually stores are super understaffed so no help will be given if someone struggles with a task or a customer
