Pros

NBCU's diverse holdings in broadcast media, film and entertainment make it a great place to hang your hat. As a large company there is something for everyone: technology, operations, finance, legal, etc. Most importantly - leadership has acknowledged that without significant change in how NBCU does business it will not be able to compete in a digital world. As a result there is a continuing dynamics which integrates top technologies with traditional content excellence (e.g. Beijing Olympics 2008)

Cons

Salaries in this industry are not very competitive and silo behavior across business units is deeply entrenched but there are signs of change.

Pros

It's a great place to network with other people. The company is so large that there are plenty of people to meet up with and hopefully get you to the place in your career you want to be.

Cons

The pay sucks. Everyone is underpaid for the job they are doing. They require a lot from their employees without proper compensation.

Pros

The work is faced paced and interesting. I worked as an IT person for ten years. The business experiences constant change. Because of this opportunities exist to implement "creative" solutions IF YOUR ARE PERSISTENT and are willing to take a few risks, which most people are not. Most people work remotely on weekends, and the company is fair with family situations (death in the family, health situations, children situation)

Cons

The management is GE driven. That is to say it is like the "Attack of the Clones". They are all driven to succeed without the necessary talent to back it up. True GE bean counters. It has caused a significant culture clash between NBC creative types (which drive the business) and GE management. Also, as an IT professional I do not like their 80/20 rule. SImply put, 80% of the work offshored, 20% done by H1-B workers. Walking down the isles of the IT departments is like being in Bangalore. Because of this there is no career path for tech workers since all tech work has been or will be taken by foreign workers. Mediocre technical staff.
