Pros

It's entertainment and being in the creative field was always a good challenge to oneself. If you're a creative and a professional you will thrive and do well in the industry despite it's tough challenges and NBCUinvesal certainly gave you the opportunity to succeed.

Cons

It's no longer this way. Ever since they were bought out by Comcast most of the decisions are now made from the New York office who have no idea what it takes to do well this side of the country. They don't take care of their people, period. This isn't apparent and certainly not in most company reviews but like cancer it's underling.

Pros

A lot of nice people work there. Good fun to work on the lot in Universal City. Perks/discounts at Universal Studios / CityWalk

Cons

Elitist culture Experience not valued Unqualified people promoted over true team players. Lack of true concern for providing excellent services to business units. Top brass excuse poor performance and dissatisfied clients by stating department is in "transition" Morale is horrible and no one seems to notice or care Leadership skills are lacking Poor / No communication - not once was I asked what I was working on Blind eye to a lot of deadbeat employees Disconnect between values of Steve Burke and this department.

Pros

One of the best reasons to join this team is that they build products which support the other NBCUniversal properties. You really are part of a bigger system, and you get to work on the infrastructure and things behind some of the biggest names and coolest brands.

Cons

This particular department appears to be devaluing technical innovation and high-end engineering resources. There seems to be an attitude that all engineers are created equal. However, while everyone who graduates med school is a doctor, many doctors specialize in a specific field. Likewise, while it's reasonable to expect most software developers to use common strategies and approaches, even a generalist has some degree of specialization, even if it's based primarily on what they worked on most recently.
