Pros

Feel like you are part of something bigger that isn't purely profit driven Interesting work depending on where you are Space is cool Government benefits are good

Cons

Government work can be very tedious with lots of hoops to jump through Frustrating that significant program decisions are made from politics and outsiders rather than the people actually working on the program

Pros

Smart folks, nice weather, great after work sport events. Lots of research going on every where. bikes are available to borrow for free!

Cons

None really. Although everyone was super smart, folks were down to earth too. Ames is located in Silicon Valley, close to everything including outdoor activities.
