Pros

Relaxed environment, not pressure to bring in funding, interesting projects. Salary is not bad, and you get some really good benefits. Plus, you have many vacation days and many holidays.

Cons

People are old, not very ambitious, there is a lot of bureaucracy because you work for the government, and you will never get rich here. You will not be pushed, which is a bad thing if you are young and ambitious.

NASA - A Bright Spot

Pros

If someone decides to be a civil servant, this is the agency to consider. NASA does so much for this country and the planet! Their plate is full of science that contributes to society as a whole.

Cons

Sometimes there are too many overlapping efforts at the centers across the country. But NASA is so big that it is hard to figure out exactly what is being done everywhere and staff at centers are protected by the political process.
