Pros

-Flight Control used to be a place that once lived up to its reputation for technical excellence, purpose-driven work, and a culture of mentorship. Over the last 6 months— employees/management challenged to live out this culture are not given the support or resources to do so. Many are still fighting valiantly to uphold this culture of excellence at great personal cost— as the current administration again and again asks them to “quit their low productivity federal government jobs”. I believe that— given support from the right leadership at the top and adequate funding— NASA/flight operations could restore this culture. -There are still exceptional people and meaningful projects — but they’re fighting uphill battles in an increasingly constrained environment. -NASA can still be the right place for those passionate about space exploration who are prepared for a challenging environment and slow-moving bureaucracy. But it’s no longer a safe bet for those seeking growth, stability, or progressive workplace culture.

Cons

-In the last 6 months, significant shifts in leadership priorities, federal mandates, and budget decisions have eroded the positive culture. Where collaboration and innovation once thrived, many teams now face chronic uncertainty, morale issues, and unclear futures. -If you’re considering NASA today, know that career progression is unpredictable, RIFs and budget cuts are a looming reality, and return-to-office mandates are impacting flexibility. The environment no longer supports the kind of stability or growth that many expect from a federal agency.
