Pros

Some truly brilliant, ethical, visionary colleagues who want to take the organisation to the next level. Outstanding technical expertise.

Cons

Culture of bullying and silencing women, lack of interest in constructive feedback and diverse viewpoints, lack of strategic alignment, lack of understanding and literacy on modern business and collaborative best practises. Cronyism, secrecy and siloes are the norm and senior leadership seems clueless about what's happening on the ground.

Dear former colleague, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and recommendations with us. We deeply regret that you perceived your work experience at Munich Re as unequal and intransparent. This is absolutely not in line with our values and beliefs. Diversity, equity and inclusion are an integral part of our business strategy and deeply embedded in our culture and business processes, as we strive to ensure equal opportunities for all employees. Among other things, we have therefore set ourselves the goal of increasing the proportion of women in all management positions globally and Group-wide to 40% by the end of 2025 and promoting diversity in our teams through balanced staffing. We would like to encourage you to reach out to the following e-mail address with more details regarding the different challenges and issues: p0060018221@munichre.com. This will help us to continuously develop our processes. We wish you all the best for your professional future. Warm regards, Munich Re

Pros

Easy work, you don't need to much more than update a ticket, change one line of code, have 3 hours meeting to talk about the change and then do it all over again. Easy career path, you only need to do what your boss ask.

Cons

- Majority of the software are old and obsolete or are being recycle. - Munich pretends to provide a sense of innovation, but only a selected group of people will make all the decision about what technology and how to use it and, you have to follow with no questions ask. - You don't have a good feeling about talk with HR to solve any problem, because is normal you feel that this action will create more problem to yourself. - Munich has a huge problem with decision making and is normal projects blow up many deadlines or change completely from the original scope. - Munich don't use as default market standards for software development since the concept of the project to the final product development. For example: on the interview they will say that any project uses agile methodologies for the development but, they forgot to mention that in their methodologies, tasks have zero description of what needs to be done. You can say that they use agile methodologies but is far different of what your will be used to. - Also is normal you see people handle to many roles, special in lead position. - At last, if you open any ticket on the IT helpdesk it will take more than 2 weeks or months to be solve or completely forget by them if you don't email or call them every day.

Pros

Good benefits, good pay, some people are good

Cons

Some AVP believe they can ride people rough and get away with it. Well time will catch up. Super long hours filled with lots of useless PM and middle management. Few groups deliver. Especially in Toronto these leaders are allowed to run however they feel their department as long the results are delivered.
