Management is awful . Staff is poorly trained and paid which highly contradicts their expectations. You will often stay way past the hour you are scheduled without being asked , regardless of your other obligations. You could be pregnant or have a second job and management won't hesitate to deny your availability changes. In terms of training specific department managers do a good job however the overall managers fail to explain anything ranging from rules to mvp awards. Did I forget to mention the stack of mvp sign ups sitting in a draw behind the third register waiting to be entered into the system. Customers often come in furious because they aren't getting their points and the common reaction one might get is confused as a manager then proceeds to enter them in on the spot in order to defuse the situation. Now in regards to cleanliness , there is none. Stock rooms are only cleaned on nights before expected visits . I have experienced a 2am closing shift when visits are expected because the store must practically be transformed for our guests. You will notice new faces in the Atlantic and Flatbush location constantly because frustrated employees simply quit and others get fired by insecure managers disappointed with their own life. Some managers refer to us as disposable when in fact we've all been on the same sinking ship all along. They say things like "managers from sports authority are trying to get our jobs and if that happens I'll be taking you all down with me" or "your opinion doesn't matter". Other modells employees visiting the Barclay location often have the same complaints. The company now proceeds to higher young employees because they are considered "impressionable" and tend to be willing to work for less than what they deserve at such a stressful environment . Many previous and current employees can attest to my starements . I also have video proof which I will be providing on Yelp. None of this is surprising considering that poor management has proven to be one of modells biggest issues yet to be resolved. I just want to make those searching for a job aware. I also hope that changes are made to this company because it is desperately needed. At the rate employees are getting fired and quiting , I'd take a second look at whose really the problem.
