Pros

Great pay. The job is really interesting, getting to work with lots cool technologies. There's lots of room for career growth, and seniors are pretty happy to help you improve. The people are fantastic. Free snacks every day, and free lunch once a week. Lots of events like happy hours and holiday parties.

Cons

MicroStrategy is in a weird place where it has more money than ever because of its Bitcoin investments, but it's core product is failing. Because of this, every quarter the place gets worse to work for. First they started doing layoffs every quarter, then they started mandating everyone come in 4 days a week. Now management has decided people aren't working hard enough, so employees have been told to work harder or they'll get fired. Stacked ranking was just introduced, so the bottom X percentage of the company will continuously get laid off. More negative rules will probably get added on as time goes on. The place used to be awesome to work for, but it now feels like a dying company trying to tighten it's belt to stay alive.

Pros

Decent pay for mid level company

Cons

Any pros that may have existed with this company have disappeared. It is no longer even really a tech company, it is a bitcoin ETF that uses their BI business as collateral to obtain loans to buy more bitcoin. The BI business has taken a backseat, so engineers won't be working on anything particularly interesting here. The new CEO seems to be an empty suit with an MBA with no vision for innovation, and only knows how to cut costs to improve the balance sheet. He has also mandated coming into the office 4 days a week, which should make MicroStrategy an automatic disqualifier for any talented engineers looking for work in 2024. The bonuses and pay raises have essentially halted, and the workload has increased significantly per employee due to the massive layoffs that occurred earlier in the fall. I would be surprised if this company exists in 5 years.
