Pros

They do have a decent bootcamp training to get you up to speed with the platform. The immediate people you work with. Great bunch of highly intelligent, knowledgeable and dedicated individuals who’s talent is being squandered. A decent free gym in the same building with shower facilities and free classes. Next to Tyson’s corner mall.

Cons

I’d be skeptical of ALL recent positive reviews, I highly doubt they’re real/authentic and more of a marketing counter strategy to the actual honest reviews making the real truth come out. You think you’ll be rewarded for going that extra mile and putting MANY hours of overtime for a given project? Think again, you’ll just be reassigned and your credit for the previous project will be discarded. Adverse situations outside of your control WILL hurt you. Let’s say your manager changed three times within the course of a year to a year and a half. Come your annual review, the latest manager will NOT acknowledge all your work from previous years leading up to a much deserved promotion. Isn’t that a gem? Wipe the slate clean, throw all of your blood, sweat and tears for years out the door! So you see senior management get promoted and their titles change more than once within a business year. You think to yourself, hey, I’ll work my butt off to achieve that, nope, sorry no budget for you and in spite of performing above and beyond, it’s still not enough to qualify! Be prepared to be underpaid compared to industry standards. The irony is that if you applied for your same job as an external applicant you’d make more money and when asking to be compensated accordingly in terms of salary adjustment, you’ll always be given the runaround that you’re within the proper payment bracket. Fancy way of dodging the bullet. You CAN and WILL be screwed out of your bonus and promotions MULTIPLE times with claims such as ‘there’s no budget’ or ‘next quarter’ an then they turnaround and hire ten new people or say there was an outstanding quarter/year but never fulfill the bonus/promotion promises. Like a horse with a dangling carrot. Once? Twice? nope, it kept on happening over the years, UNACCEPTABLE! No wonder the company’s KEY talent that is the foundation of it’s success keeps going for exodus. Oh! Pray you never have a serious personal/family emergency in nearly 10 years and the first/only time you DO have to take time off because of it because it WILL be held against you and be told verbatim ‘it doesn’t matter why, you haven’t been here’. Support from your manger when a family member is critically ill to the point you break down in front of them? Forget it! They’ll literally turn their head away from you and prompt you to stop bothering them.

Pros

At this point in time there are no pros about working at this place. It is the worst place I have ever worked. I think I had more fun and enjoyed working overnight clearnup at McDonalds as a teenager. Wait, I take that back, the benefits packages is mediocre, but not great.

Cons

Everything is a con at MicroStrategy. The executive management are essentially con men, getting other people to support their rediculous salaries through draconian managment practices. The way the entire company is run is a con, because nothing happens with agility or common sense. While there are good people still left at MicroStrategy, it is getting more difficult to find them, as everyone seems to be sinking into a perpetual state of cynicism and apathy caused by the executive management. The worst thing is that executive management places no genuine value on the people who hold MicroStrategy up and keep it running while they play their little cerebral masturbation games.

Pros

No accountability, goals, or actual work required. If you want to coast in your career and get paid... this is the place to do it. Ironic for a company that sells a data product.

Cons

Where to even start. I honestly can't believe this place hasn't been shutdown for illegal business practices or discriminatory acts. Shame on the leadership and board. I can't believe you sleep at night. This place and its leaders are immoral. It treats its people so poorly, it's just awful. There is no effort to support its employees with the right benefits, no employee resource groups, training doesn't exist and the abuse is at all levels. The constant change isn't because it's "agile." It's because the CEO, COO, CTO, and CHRO have no clue how to run a business and they are failing it. Your career will suffer here. Your skills with atrophy and it will be hard to adjust to working at a real company in the future. No career paths or career growth. Favorites get new titles and money, but it doesn't mean they are strong workers. For being a technology company, it is SO behind with it's own technology, practices and capabilities. I've worked at older and slower businesses that run better and have better technology. It's inefficient, ineffective and a product of the 1990s. You'll also forget to have an opinion and that you have expertise and knowledge. This place just tells people what to do and you are told not to share ideas or have an opinion. Not to mention the stability. Layoffs occured all year and will continue in the future. This place is a revolving door of talent that doesn't stay more than 18 months. Don't get me started with this bitcoin nonsense. This company may be in business for years to come, but doesn't mean it will grow or be productive. Get out while you can and be happy your name won't be tied to this place.
