Not That Great...

Pros

- Some decent co-workers, management and supervisors that are friendly and willing to help you. - Store interior might be a lot less depressing depending on your location

Cons

- You can get good hours and better positions if you know people. If you're a knowledgeable and experienced worker but don't have the connections, forget it. Favoritism and nepotism run wild. - Despite a few nice people, workplace culture can be pretty nasty. It's definitely not a very safe environment. Involves a good amount of walking on eggshells. A lot of gossip, sexism, bullying, name-calling, backstabbing and unnecessary blaming goes on, especially from the people who are favored and don't understand what their actual place in the workplace is. - Some managers and supervisors and unnecessarily cruel and power hungry. Often making up new rules and procedures every week. You maybe be told to do one thing one week and get yelled at for doing that exact thing the next week. - Budget cuts and lack of staff. Because of this you will lose hours and the shifts you do work you'll be working the amount of work meant for 2 or 3 which is really stressful and might cause you to stay later than expected. - Unforgiving attitude towards trivial mistakes. - Union means that people who should be fired (e.g. the bullies) won't be.

Pros

If you are looking for a part time job most Metros will have a position open somewhere in the store to fill.

Cons

They are unionized and not very helpful. If you are trying to get ahead in this company forget it. If someone has more sonority then you even though you are more qualified to do the job they will make the one with more sonority full time. The union sucks in that place. All stores are different so if you are planning on changing stores for whatever reason you will have to quit and reapply to another store. Every store has a different union and it makes it hard to climb the corporate ladder.
