recruiting leadership would all be let go at any other reputable company. I have never seen such gross negligence at a company before.

Pros

- Overpaid for role & responsibilities - Low stress (except when recruiting volume was at an all time high for certain quarters during the pandemic, but is very unlikely to happen ever again after nearly 20K layoffs) - Amazing benefits, especially for families - Recruiting Org operates with an excellent work/life balance & self-care first philosophy - Dedicated internal recruiting technology tools teams = extremely efficient scheduling & communication platforms - Hands off managers who trust ICs to get their work done however they see fit

Cons

- Limited promotion/career path: a very small percentage of RCs either make lateral moves as admins/EAs or step up to become Sourcers, Recruiters, or RC team leads; even less likely, a mere handful become program managers/specialists. These opportunities are extremely rare, despite what leaders say. Promos for coords to IC4 level is near impossible which means you are expected to do one thing, and one thing only: schedule. - Mind Numbing Work: If you like repetitive, mindless work, this is for you. The internal tools we use are spectacular, but that means there is very little complexity in your day to day, even at leadership levels of scheduling which may at the very most, require a lot of DMing and follow-up. The job is becoming increasingly automated and which means there is a bleak outlook for growth in this role at Meta. - Promise of Projects: if there is downtime dictated by the natural ebbs and flows of recruiting headcount, coords may be asked to work on projects but that work is limited to administrative, logistical work; maybe working on improving interviewer engagement or tooling adoption, but that's it. This job is not a good stepping stone into program management, as there are virtually no opportunities to lead a project from end to end. You will be hand held, limited in scope/scale, or worst case, told after developing a project plan that there is someone else in the Org already working on it. Lots of work gets deprioritized. - Skill Stagnation: maybe less experienced folks felt they grew, but all I got was a chance to maintain the organization, attention to detail, communication, customer service, and time management skills I already had. If anything I stagnated due to the frequent periods of doing nothing while we waited for headcount and due to the limited scope/scale of projects available. I've been here nearly 3 years and I feel like I have nothing to show for it except low level skills requiring very little brain power. When there were opportunities, it was very competitive and RC leads almost had to fight to get their ICs a chance to prove themselves.
