Pros

Great company to work for, great work-life benefits.

Cons

Too many departments/areas and procedures, it takes time to acclimate oneself to all the procedures and know what department/area to turn to for help.

Pros

The Cary office is in the middle of a really great area to have a family; Cary has excellent schools, good parks and community centers, etc. The workplace culture is generally good. The powers that be are genuinely trying to make MetLife GTO into a real tech company. In my experience it is easy to run into and chat with executives, and my opinion of them is overwhelmingly favorable.

Cons

It is sometimes difficult to be a software engineer at what is fundamentally not a technology company. Depending on the team you're on you can (as in my case) have a great experience working with talented people on a team that tries to be as forward-thinking as possible, but you will always be limited by existing institutions.
