Pros

Good people, great health benefits. Lots of opportunity to improve out dated processes. Diverse employee base, great pto and bonus structure.

Cons

High turnover, no knowledge management, executives do not interact with employees and are ignorant of daily issues that can be improved.

Pros

The benefits are good, the top medical plan pays out like a slot machine. The Short Term Disability plan is also good.. I also met one of my best friends there..

Cons

Downsides to working at MetLife: Micromanagement, Management that feels that they must belittle every employee that they possibly can, unless you're doing the job to their exact specification, which is just about impossible. Minimum Call center goals that are impossible to reach, Policyholders and Supervisors that mentally abuse you, and face no recourse from senior management. The code of conduct isn't held to standard against all employees, just those who are non-management. Systems and hardware that are 20+ years old. Promotions given on the "Good ole boy" system. Employee Relations is a joke.

Pros

Benefits are good although you have to wait a year for the 401K. Most of the co-workers are great to work with.

Cons

I have never worked for a company where the Sales Desk managers blatantly lie. They are almost all from up north and CA and have no vestiges of humility or honesty. There was but one decent sales desk manager and I believe he was from NC. They made promises to get experienced people to work there knowing full well it was all a lie. Additionally, the age and gender discrimination is rampant. Us older males have no career path or way to improve. I can't think of any females to get promotions although there were several in my class much better educated and experienced than any of the recent political promotions. If you are a young white male, regardless of intelligence or work ethic or a nice looking young female, this is the place for you. The entry level pay is OK for a new college grad but probably the worst in the industry for experienced wholesalers. If you are not a favorite or if one of the managers doesn't like you, you are dead.
