Pros

Small division within a large company. If are in an area where Met's premiums are competitive you can make decent money.

Cons

In many areas Met's auto and home rates are not competitive. Customer base is too small to spread out Loss ratios over large numbers. Small division almost treated like a stepchild from parent. Reps are increasingly told to sell other products to keep up profit margins. I would not consider this position a long term career opportunity. Business model is weak and requires agent to pay for a large share of marketing efforts.

Pros

Flexibility, Telecommuting, . . .

Cons

The weak leadership shown in the Aurora office is driving the business and its processes into a state of complete inefficiency. Management and those participating in the organization of the business processes are unaware of the daily effect some changes have. Many decisions are made in a vacuum. Rumors and lies, more commonly known as "feedback" are considered to be truth and credible. Reputations are easily destroyed by the opinions of certain employees who are more than willing to share enough information about something someone said or has done to make that person seem difficult or mean. The work environment is tearing the employee morale into shreds. The computer systems are also archaic and create great inefficiencies in their own right.

Pros

there are excellent opportunities to learn new things and the benefits are spectacular (although the old timers will will you how much better they used to be).

Cons

Hostile culture. Not for the weak at heart. Also, increasing presence of India-based outsourcing companies means job security isn't whY it usex to be.
