Pros

Flexibility to work from home

Cons

Some organization within Metlife are very flat. There seems to be no opportunity for growth.

Pros

All claims staff are required to go through training related to policy/plan provisions, the systems used, and relevant/applicable insurance regulations. Advancement opportunities are posted on the company intranet and you're encouraged to apply if you meet the requirements for a position of added seniority/responsibility and are in good standing.

Cons

Depending on the department, some people are promoted to management positions based on popularity rather than merit. If you're placed in a group where the manager is buddy-buddy with half of the team, you'll end up doing their work while they take 2 hour lunches with the boss.

Pros

Benefits are great. Work life balance is terrific. Opportunities for advancement are there; you just have to network.

Cons

Large company sometimes takes time to get top-down decisions on important issues. Generally, though, people are empowered to make decisions (and take responsibility for those decisions).
