Pros

Opportunity to serve public through back office support role, learned the products and liked them.

Cons

Person who hired me was great, but he stepped down from his role. Person who took over had a different mindset and I think they decided to work me out of the company. I was not girly-girly enough to fit in with the other women, although that was not the reason they gave for letting me go. Also, some bosses I dealt with daily had a problem with me taking the standard breaks.

Pros

Benefits package is very good. As a field sales representative your schedule is very flexible. If you have a wealthy and strong natural market you can do very well in sales. Lots of different financial products to sell.

Cons

Cash Compensation has been reduced year after year, benefits recently reduced. Management doesn't care about you if you don't produce well. Only top producers get good leads and services. If you don't have a good natural market of prospects you will have to work 70 hours a week to earn a good income, will have to cold call most of the time. Compensation is taken back if client cancel or changes their mind about product purchase. Computer and mobile technology is not current. You have to pay $13k to $15k per year for your office expenses and you have to buy an overpriced computer from the company. You can't have any second jobs. Opportunity for advancement within the company is political and not based on work ethic or work performance.
