Pros

Good company if you are close to retire. Also you can choose to "Work" or "don't Work" you still be treated same

Cons

One of the heavy bureaucratic company with very limited scope to grow. Middle management is not sure where they are heading. No technical learning what so ever. Your manager can easily find 10 reasons for not doing the work then finding a single reason to be productive. They play this game behind their so called "PBO" (Plan Build & Operate) model

Culture of Reorganization and Relocation

Pros

The employee benefits and perks associated with working for a large corporation cannot be beat-free museums, employee discounts on everything, fantastic support system for all life events. Company stability is undeniable, and there are clear opportunities for long term career growth.

Cons

Constant reorganizations mean you may be reporting to and working with new people, and your role may change significantly. Large scale changes make it difficult for business strategy and goals to be clearly defined and to make its way down to all employees. Job stability is uncertain as hundreds of jobs are relocated to other parts of the country or outsourced. Politics is the cornerstone of success at MetLife
