Good place to get a start, but wouldn't stay...

Pros

Challenging work, intelligent and motivated colleagues, reasonably good facilities with adequate scientific instrumentation

Cons

Scientists at the BS/MS level have little opportunity for career advancement in the scientific track, and can hit the "glass ceiling" within 12 years. General consensus is that promotions come too slowly and that salary isn't quite what it should be for a top-10 pharma company. Such colleagues generally feel under-appreciated.

Pros

Pay is very competative and oppertunities exist for highly motivated. The new products are very exciting and older ones are very benificial to many people. The reward in working at this company is knowing that you can help a great deal of peple in what you make.

Cons

Communication and Senior Managment are very distant and hard to reach. They are often giving a certain direction one week then going back and changing things the following week. The change in directions and initiatives leaves people wondering what the focus should be. Also there have been 4-5 major initiatives started within a 9 month period which is very daunting and overloading to all involved in implimenting and working in the sytem.

Good pay and benefits. Great opportunities to get experience in different departments. Thw work that you do makes a difference in other people's lives.

Cons

Disconnection of upper management and lower management due to company size. Frequent layoffs lately due to problems with clinical trials and products. Senior management does not take the time to get to know the employees and has an impersonal, uncaring, relationships with them.
