Pros

Merck is family friendly company that supports work-life balance efforts. The work environment is fairly nice as well. As with any company, the your teammates account for a large portion of your job satisfaction. Fortunately for me, majority of my teammates were very pleasant to work with.

Cons

My biggest complain about the company was its rather incompetent and out-of-touch middle management. They engage in favoritism often and are rarely fare in giving appropriate credit. One can classify me as a "disgruntled employee" and I wouldn't argue.

Career opportunity for experienced professionals. Work with highly talented people.

Cons

Merck like many other Pharma companies had it easy for many years and never had to improve company efficiency and management accountability. Merck leadership understand it and are doing the right thing but the effort is significant.

I have had good luck with compentent managers at Merck

Cons

Merck cannot supply vaccines to their customers. The manufacturing division is a mess!! Over the past 2 years they have taken away bonus from sales reps in the vaccine division.
