      Pros

      The company is going through a major transformation and everyone is challenging the existing Business model which makes for an energized environment open to new ideas.

      Cons

      The restructuring after the merger with SP has resulted in significant layoffs which have limited opportunities for carreer development / growth. Still not done with downsizing...

      Pros

      Merck hires the best. Very talented and dedicated workforce. Senior Mgr is trying to make things better for employees and recognizes the issues. Very flexible telecommuting culture.

      Cons

      IT people in my area work on avg 50hr/week. Late PM meetings. Highly charged budget environment. SAP and Schering PLough has impacted morale which is very low. People are just burnt out. Maybe the same everywhere. Wave after wave of reorganizations and layoffs and moves do not help. Conscious effort to move from inhouse to contract for many services (esp IT) leading to more upheaval.

      Schering-Plough Singapore was a great place to work at.

      Pros

      Prior to 2000, I was at Schering-Plough Singapore and found the company to be a great and fun place to work. Staff are friendly and helpful, it has that small family feeling-- Kampong. Things may have changed a lot now after Merck's acquisition..

      Cons

      I think the place has grown really big and the atmosphere has definitely changed from the Kampong feeling to u know what esp.. after the M&A.. good luck.
