Pros

Great benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision) - multiple options, decent co-pays and deductibles; Good management (competent, technical, and usually only 1 direct manager per team); Strong company, appears to be doing well winning business; And some good people to work with - when they can keep people

Cons

Very underpaid, various people confirm we are at least 10K-15K under the standard on most salary surveys; Elusive pay scales - they do NOT want you to find out where you are in your pay scale; They find any reason limit bonuses, and have been milking the "the economy" reason; Proprietary software - few, if any, transferable skills; NOTICEABLE retention issues - Mercer has an obvious problem with attrition! Younger employees (Mid 30s-) leave usually within 1.5 years or less. Mercer is obviously in denial that they need to PAY well to retain staff (especially strong staff).; India - many jobs are being sent to cheaper Indian workers, further crippling the American economy; Onshore, they have recently been experimenting heavily at doing more with less staff at the same pay.

Pros

benefits, casual work environment, dress casual, friendly work environment, people are nice to work with, professional atmosphere and diversity of staff, flexibility of lunches, etc. Every other Friday off at 1:30 for select employees.

Cons

used to have 37.5 hour work week, recently changed to 40 hours, no salary increase for year 2009 (company wide) and minimal salary increase for 2010. Moral of employees seems a bit disgruntled at times, due to lack of communication, workload and other deciding factors. No actual training department, so your pretty much on your own. No formal HR/benefit/401k overview..must call 800# for more info on the subject.

Pros

Friendly atmosphere People are generally nice and helpful Global presence Flexible

Cons

Depending on the department, it can be difficult to grow once you get to a certain stage Senior management are not aware of the nitty gritty Too much procedural steps People are very afraid to step on others toes which can result in burying too many things under the carpet and not dealing with issues effectively.
