Good pay and benefits; many people generally willing to share and cooperate; strong in marketing and operations; nice facilities though not always conveniently placed; Fairly easy to maintain a healthy work and personal life balance

Cons

No performance based culture, more a meeting and who do you know culture; little training; MBO's are generally division objectives completely outside of an individual's control; little room for growth. Managements replacement of experienced experts with new generalists has hurt quality. Too much stress on conformity.

Overall MasterCard is a great company to work for- but this depends what department you work in. If like me you were stuck in the wrong department it can make or break your career. There were no bonuses, no promotions and no follow through if you raised issues about how things were run. They was a serious lack in communication and although they said they were improving this I hadn't noticed any changed before leaving the company. Many people have left the department due to micromanagement, and more are seeking employment outside the company, which is a shame considering the level of expertise they have. I would have remained in the company if an opportunity in another department had become available but unfortunately this did not happen. HR and Management would rather lose good employees than listen to their concerns.

Pros

Hiring new and younger employees while maintaining existing generations which provides a broad spectrum of existing experience and new ideas. Benefits are still reasonable and there is a matching 401k which starts vesting in the first year. Senior management is absolutely moving in the right direction.

Cons

Old school hostility still exists in pockets. Attempts are being made to clean up unacceptable behavior but it's like moving a battleship.
