Pros

The culture is OK depending where you work. You'll see a lot of lifers settling there given that Mastercard pays well and bonuses are almost always at or above target. People are friendly and the work is interesting. Two years is probably all you need before moving on.

Cons

HR and Management has their favorites - you'll notice that in a lot of comments on here. They hired a new Chief Talent Officer who seems to have her own agenda and isn't in it for the people. There are very few leaders there who truly live the Mastercard values by doing well by doing good and who invest in their people. Mastercard does not do a great job at letting go of poor performers - pretty much anyone can obtain their full bonus (which in my opinion translates to lack of innovation). There's no true sense of urgency to motivate anyone. If you're looking for a comfortable job with mounds of red tape and no room for growth then Mastercard might be the right fit for you.

Pros

Stay away from any support team roles and you might find the place ok

Cons

Management - very poor management, whatever St Louis say goes, if you question anything you are immediately marked out as quote; "not been a team player". Valid issues were raised and the response from STL management was extremely hostile and threatening. HR - possibly the worst HR department I have ever experienced. They are there to warm a chair, nothing more. Training - a serious lack of training. You might be lucky to get an hour or so with an SME but its usually expected you do your own on totally outdated Confluence pages. Summary - its pure luck which team you join, stay away from any support teams as you will be expected to have numerous applications to support. An example of the dollar saving would be recently the contract of an outsourced company had been revoked due to poor service and they hired smaller in house teams across the Dublin/St Louis/Pune regions which are now often buried in work. When the issue of lack of resources to cover the workload was raised it was pretty much ignored. Do not trust the Dublin management to watch your back, they are out for themselves and are happy to be one of the many sheep.

Pros

Compensation is very competitive. Work life balance is pretty good. CEO is amazing.

Cons

You can’t get ahead if you work for the wrong person. Potential is measured by 1-2 people who don’t even know you. If you kiss the right butt, you’ll be successful. If you put your head down, work hard and drive results but don’t shout it from the rooftop, you won’t get ahead. It’s all about self- promotion and butt kissing - especially in HR. Disappointing.
