Pros

Flexible work arrangements; Good opportunity for women; offset by lower pay.

Cons

Men are pushed through to the management levels simply by asking. Women must work for decades or come in at a higher level to get there. Infrastructure is very old and increasingly complicated to get anything done. HR is non existent, you're required to call a generalized number and treated as a thing, not a person.

You clearly had a horrible experience and I apologize for that. I'd love to talk to you to really understand what happened and how we missed the mark so dramatically. I hope you will call me - 212-345-6285. You don't need to tell me your name - just say I asked you to call on glassdoor.

Pros

Some of the brokers were very helpful and I did learn a fair bit. Benefits were decent, vacation time was plentiful.

Cons

It was impossible to get a day off. My supervisor was unwilling to let me get one morning off to buy a house, but took two weeks off to go to Europe after half of our team quit. Often, he would swing by my desk before he left on for the weekend and pressure me to work weekends (just like the manager in "Office Space"). Training is terrible, and because the workload is so heavy new employees are given trial by fire. No one is happy at Marsh in Austin, and the work environment is miserable.

Pros

Travel (if very lucky) Holiday is better than average (26 days + bank holidays)

Cons

They recruit younger staff on higher salaries however there is zero progression. If you want to relocate you are expected to stay on the same salaries. Obnoxious management, people are obliged to stay there past 5.30pm, extremely poor communication, top to bottom approach, things only improved since the acquisition of JLT (they honored JLT's benefits but they'll be gone next year), men's culture, the MD is unprofessional and gossipy, no work life balance, £450 pay rise after three years as each year they would say that there's no money in the pot (and then after no bonuses and budgets) would release a statement about what a great financial year they've had.
