Pros

With the economy as bad as it is finding another job (good one if possible) is hard, so I am happy to be here as being unemployed is worse. You get paid at the end of the month and you get a good drill in you MS Office skills. I have been with the company for 3 months and its good choice after graduation if you don’t find anything else because this job keeps me in the city, makes me learn a bit, you learn general vocab for future interviews, you pay your rent and it always looks good to say you are a consultant.

Cons

Salary is lower than other firms, be it big 4 or boutiques. There is only one client and both Management Solutions and the client are Spanish based so it does not really provide you with a good view on how the city works. I think if I got another job in London it would be a big organizational and cultural change (for the better). Hours are longer than in other firms as they follow Spanish timetables. The main project our client had (Santander) has fallen apart because they are not buying RBS anymore, so there is now plenty of staff wandering around the building zombie style with nothing to do. As I said in the PROS you do get drilled in MS Office skills very well, but there is no more learning a part from that which can sound pretty ridiculous but is true. The atmosphere in the office is quite low and most of the locally hired graduates want to leave. We all know we are here because we didn´t get anything better after uni. Some of us got to late stages of bigger firms but didn’t get the job so this is okay for the moment. Others come from degrees/universities where they could not get anything better (imaging doing Arab language at SOAS and then try to jump into the city competing with LSE, UCL, Oxbridge and other grads...). I’m not a loser, but I admit it’s a loser situation.

Pros

Some really nice people are working there, especially at a junior level. The juniors get on very well, and meet after work. Non-Spanish people come from top UK universities. As for a consultancy hours are very good (many juniors leave at around 6-7pm), however occasionally you would get on a project that requires you work very late hours (mainly for the face time rather than for actual workload).

Cons

They do not manage their workforce effectively - junior people are without any or little work most of the time. Projects are very very dull, very little strategy work, and in the UK they work pretty much with one client, so there is very little variety in work (and risk for the company's future). Very unprofessional - you get a lot of lies in the recruitment process, seniors don't always act and talk professionally around clients, and there are some weird practices in place (e.g. a manager can perfectly ask you to stalk a client around the office...), HR people avoid putting things black on white and you can never prove that they have promised/told you anything. The salary is not competitive to what is offered in other consultancies. I only recommend to join them if you are terribly desperate for work.
